Sherry Party Masses of vivid gladioli and roses in tones of scarlet and red made a beautiful setting in Hie palm lotyige of tlie Hotel St. George late yesterday afternoon for a cheery sherry party, given by Mrs. A. Farrington, who, with her son-in-law and daughter, Mr. and Mrs. S. West-Newman, arrived at Wellington by the Makura from abroad yesterday morning. About SO guests were present, all of whom had much to say to -Mi's. Farrington and to Mr. and Mrs. West-Newman (the latter was formerly Miss Joyce Farrington) Mrs Farrington received her guests in a frock of black georgette with black hat witli touches of white. Mrs. WestNewman was in a navy dress relieved with white, and a navy and white hat. Mrs. Farrington’s other daughter, Mrs. John Macdonald, wore a beige lloral frock and a beige hat.

Miss C. D. Warren, hostess of the Overseas League in Glasgow, arrived at Auckland by the lonic recently. Miss ■Warren, who is planning a most ambitious tour of Australia and New Zealand. to be covered in a few weeks, said that she had always had a great desire to see both New Zealand ami Australia. She intended to tour the Dominion thoroughly, even at the expense of curtailing her visit to Australia. During the Great "War, when she went over to France with Hie Scottish Women’? Hospital in 1916. later passing her V.A.D. examination and serving at an aeroplane base. Miss Warren nursed many soldiers from both New Zealand and Australia. and her great liking for them inspired her witli the desire to visit their countries.

Mrs. A. Farrington, and her daughter and son-in-law. -Mr. and Mrs. S. West-Newman, arrived at Wellington by the Makura yesterday.
