On a charge of stealing £3 from a man with whom he had shared a room, Charles Humphreys, steward, aged 55, was fined £1 and costs by Mr. E. D. Mosley, S.M., in the Wellington Magistrate’s Court yesterday. Accused, who was represented by Mr. P. Verschaffelt, was ordered to make restitution. Runners cannot cover ground twice as quickly as walkers. The record for a mile iu running is a little over four minutes: in walking, just under six and a halt minutes
