Unshrinkable Fibre

At a meeting of the Bradford Textile Society, held recently, Mr. B. H. Wilsdon, director of the Wool Industries Research Association, gave an interesting address on the discovery of a treatment for the production of shrinkage-resistant wool. The “Textile Mercury and Argus,” of Bradford, in a report of the proceedings, states that “for some months the chemists at Torridon have been working out details with a view to the translation of the dis(•overv from Inborntory to conimcrcin. practice. The process, which will make wool really unshrinkable, will mark a great .-.-top forward, and will open up new uses and new markets. It will mean virtually .1 new fibre, differing from ordinary wool in the same way that mercerised cotton differs from ordinary cotton.”
