Co-operation of Britain and Dominions (Received January 19, C. 20 p.m.) New York, January 18. The Discovery’s sensational rescue of Messrs. Ellsworth and Hollick-Ken-yon after many had given them up for lost is being widely displayed in the Press. Many prominent explorers. Including Rear-Admiral Byrd, Bernt Balchen, Stefansson and R. C. Andrews expressed pleasure and relief at the rescue. The New York “Herald-Tribune,” in a leader, commends the perseverance of Mr. Ellsworth for a successful flight after previous failures, and adds praise for the work of Discovery 11. “Not the least gratifying feature of this particular expedition has been the cordial international partnership and co-operation which have marked it throughout, and which now find their apotheosis in the successful mission of the Discovery II,” it says. “It is a pleasure to share our pride and thanksgiving with our cousins.” Mr. Cordell Hull, Secretary of State, to-day expressed the Government’s gratification at the Discovery’s rescue of Ellsworth, and praised the British Government ami Dominions for their “fine co-operation” in locating the missing explorers.
