MASTERTON WINS

Triangular Athletics Contest at Petone GOOD RACE IN MILE EVENT The annual triangular amateur athletics contest between, the Masterton, Olympic, and Petone clubs was held on Saturday afternoon in favourable weather at the Petone Oval before a large crowd. The track was slightly holding and a strong wind blew across the straight and the sprint track, but times were quite good. Masterton had no difficulty in retaining the contest banner, Petone being second. During the afternoon the Petone Mun,eipal Band played items; it also played the competing teams round the ground in a parade before the meeting. The best race was the one mile, won by E. Taylor, Petone, from A. C. Walker. Masterton, in a grand finish. The time was not fast.' The one mile open was won by M. S. Fleming, of .Melbourne, off 2-J yards.' A. R.
