Rereatu Does Best Sprint Of Morning GAY BRONEY WORKS WELL Dominion Special Service. Auckland. January 4. Light rain fell at intervals during training operations at Ellerslie to-day, but the going was good. Most of the fast work was done on the No. 2 grass, with the poles sft. out. The besUsprints of the morning were recorded by Rereatu and klectwind. On the grass Gay Marigold went six furlongs in 1.19 1-5. Gay Marigold looks well, but has been a long time returning to form. , , Professional and Ringshoi were on terms at the end of five furlongs in I.U, both doing their work well. Enlightenment easily beat sir Atm over six furlongs in 1-17. It was a useful gallon Tor the former, but Sir Abb went much below his usual standard. Te Hai was going better than Marlene at the finish of half a mile in o2 3-o iw seems to have freshened up a little since his return from Taranaki. Hunting Maid ran seven Jurlon 0 s in 1.35, the last three in 42 2-o. The easy track conditions should enable this mare to show up at approaching meetings. Kellv hit out freely over haif a mile in 51, and seems likely to return to form soon. . - Tidalia sprinted half a mile in o 0 4-o. Her condition is very good, and she. did her work pleasingly. Wellington Cup Candidate. Gay Broney ran a circuit in 1.4 S 2-5, the last seven furlongs in 1.34. He picked up Gay Princess and beat her home .over the last five furlongs in 1.7 2-p- Cay Broney did his work in good style. Fleetwind dashed over half a mile m 50, the best of the morning. This mare has only to. repeat track work to show up in the near future. Red Elame was timed to run the last five or six .furlongs in 1.7 1-5, and King Mestor the last six furlongs of a steady r weight ran Six furlongs in 1.16, after taking 37 l-o for the first three. This was the best gallop of the morning, and Rereatu is traimn o on in fine style. , .. . Vera Acre sprinted half a mile in o-. Kemp leaves for Trentham tomorrow with the Wellington Cup candidate Gay Broney. In all his gallops since the summer meeting Gay Broney has performed in good style. The easy tracks have enabled his owner to give him plenty of solid work without causing him to „o sore, and he 'should strip fit for his Wellington engagements.
