FORECAST FOR TO-DAY’S WEATHER.

Cloudy to overcast; rain probab lc. Following is the weather report and forecast issued yesterday by the Meteorological Office, Wellington, for the 24 hours ending 3 p.m. to-day: — A disturbance has crossed the South Island, but a rather deep low pressure centre is still located over the north Tasman Sea. Pressure is rather high o>er Tasmania. . . Moderate to strong south to south-east winds south of New Plymouth and Napier: elsewhere northerlies, and northerlies probably again extending later as far south as Cook Strait. Seas rough at times in New Zealand Waters north of Kawhia and Tauranga, and in the Cook Strait area. Moderate to fresh northerly winds in the northern portion of the eastern Tasman Sea; elsewhere south to south-east winds; seas moderate. Weather cloudy to overcast and in places misty or foggy. Rain probable in most districts, with some heavy falls in the North Island. Improving later in western and southern portions of the South Island. YESTERDAY’S WEATHER Wellington.— ln morning overcast and sultry, with light north-north-westerly wind ; about 1.15 p.m. wind changed to south-south-east and conditions became cool, a misty drizzle setting in later; minimum temperature Sunday night 59.4 deg.; maximum yesterday 71.3 deg., and at 4 p.m. 61.2 deg. Rainfall at “The Dominion” building for 24 hours ended midnight, ,04m. Rainfall for January, 1.26 in.; for year, 1.26 in. Palmerston North. — Steady rain over Sunday night; sky heavily overcast throughout yesterday with scattered showers; mild temperatures; light easterly wind. Masterton.— Overcast, with several light rain showers; light northerly breeze. . Wanganui.— Rain fell on Sunday night; yesterday was dull and overcast with occasional showers; muggy atmosphere. Waipukurau.— Slight rain in early morning, followed by dull but warm day. Auckland.— Showery and humid; heavy rain fell during morning; moderate northerly wind; temperature at midday 74deg.; barometer fell slightly to 29.65 in. Christchurch. — Overcast but fine, with fresh south-westerly wind; maximum temperature G7.7deg.; barometer steady at 29.75 in. Dunedin.— Overcast, with light misty rain at intervals; light south-west breeze; maximum temperature 54deg.; barometer showed little movement, reading at 4 p.m. 29.90 in.
