HEALTH CAMP FUNDS

Campaign at Eastbourne A well-attended meeting of representatives of' various organisations in Eastbourne was held in the council chamber on Wednesday evening to set up a committee for the launching of a campaign to raise funds for the Children’s Health Camp. The Mayor (Mr. E. W. Wise) P On the motion of Mr. W. Hutchings, the following committee was set up with power to add to their number: The xMayor (Mr. E. W. Wise), chairman, representing the Eastbourne Borough Council and the Masonic Lodge, the Mayoress (Mrs. E. W. Wise), Mr. B. P. Lenihan, honorary treasurer, Mr. E. J. Appleton, honorary secretary and organiser, Mrs. Mather, representing the Eastbourne Mothers’ Union, Mrs. Thornton, the Boy Scouts' group Mrs. D. N. Isaacs, the Plunket Society Mr. W. Wilson, the Muritai School Committee, Mr. W. Hutchings, the croquet club, Mr. A. J. Hollis, the Eastbourne sub-branch of the Returned Soldiers’ Association, Mr. W. Phillips, Eastbourne Rugby Football Club, Dr. p. N. Isaacs the Eastbourne Bowling Club. Letters were read from Miss E. Cheyne, honorary secretary of the St. Ronan’s Girls’ Club, and from Mr. R. E. Mayer, honorary secretary of the Eastbourne Rugby Football Club, assuring the committee of the-fullest support from their organisations. Cr. Margaret Magill, who was a member of the executive of the Wellington Health Camp Association for a number of years, wrote asking to be included in any programme decided upon, as her heart was in the movement and she knew the great need for carrying on the good -work. . In acdition to arranging for entertainments, it was decided that a “house-to-house” canvass for the sale of health stamps be made, as it was considered that an appeal of that nature would receive the wholehearted support of the citizens. Helpers are required, and those willing to assist in the campaign are requested to communicate with the honorary organiser (Mr. E. J. Appleton) at his office adjoining the borough council office, Rimu Street, or at 66 Oroua Street. %
