TRADE WITH CANADA

Most-Favoured-Nation > Treatment

AUSTRALIA AND NEW ZEALAND Ottawa, August 29. Orders-in-Couneil extending most-favoured-nation treatment to Australia and New Zealand have been approved aud become effective on September 1. The Minister of National Revenue, Mr. Lawson, in making the announeemnt, said that the Ottawa tirade agreements gave special treatment to selected lists of goods imported to Canada from these Dominions, but since then Canada had made agreements with other countries granting most-favoured-nation treatment. The orders now regularised the trade relations between Canada and Australia and New Zealand, ensuring their goods treatment not less favourable than was accorded to like goods of a foreign country. In order to enjoy the concession such goods must be shipped direct from Australia and New Zealand to Canada.
