HIGH COMMISSIONER

Sir James Parr to Continue ’ In Office YEAR’S EXTENSION OF TERM Sir James Parr has been offered and has accepted an extension of his term as High Commissioner for New Zealand in London for a further twelve months, ending December 31, 1936. In making the announcement yesterday, the Prime Minister, Rt. Hon. G. W. Forbes, said be was very glad that Sir James had been able to see his way to continue in office for this further period, especially as in all probability he would be called upon from time to time to deal with matters relating to the Dominion’s primary produce. Sir James had been closely associated with Mr. Coates and himself during the course of the meat negotiations in London recently and had shown that he was possessed of a very full knowledge and a good grip of the situation. “Many official and ■ representative people whom I met in London,” added the Prime Minister, “had paid high encomiums to the work which Sir James had been performing and to the able and efficient services which be was rendering in London. I also had an opportunity of judging this for myself when in England, and I have nothing but praise for the manner in which Sir James is discharging the duties of this, very important office. I think the Government have cause for gratification that they have been successful in securing his services for a further term.”
