Labour Proposals Reintroduced

Notice of his intention to introduce a Distress and Replevin Amendment Bill and a Judicial Proceedings (Regulation of Reports) Bill, was given by Mr. W. E. Barnard (Lab., Napier) in the House of Representatives yesterday. “These Bills.” explained Mr. Barnard in an interview, “have been introduced on more than one occasion r.y Mr. P. Fraser, and finally were taken up by the Government. The Statutes Revision Committee considered them from time to time, and finally in October last recommended that the Judicial Proceedings (Regulation of Reports) Bill ’be allowed to proceed. The Distress and Replevin Amendment Bill was reported on by the same committee in April last, when it recommended that the Bill be introduced next session, as it was then too late for Parliament to pass it. I am reintroducing the Bills on behalf of Mr. Fraser, and in the expectation of rousing the Government to the action which it has been all too slow to take. •
