NEW SMARTNESS Printed frocks are recognised and greeted with joy here, there, and everywhere. And, we hope, forever. However, there are prints and prints. Just any old print won’t do. You have to check up on what’s new now,and then to go into print as last-minute news. Spring prints favour small patterns closely spaced. Whether the ground is light or dark, the print must add a

staccato note and accent the whole. Jabots aud frill fronts pick up the very best in smart prints, and resort to solid colour to emphasise the point. For instance, a dash of beige and turquoise on a brown background. The result? Beige trimming, of course. Green, red and white on black. Then what? White pleated jabot or collar. And sleeve trimming, too, to make it complete. You can quite cheerfully ruin the whole business by wearing a predominantly brown print with a black coat, and vice versa. Stop, look, and listen before you buy your print frock. You’re just bound to buy one, because anyone who could

ignore such allure is simply not worth bothering about. But do buy sensibly. Remember, you’re going to wear it under your spring coat and without a coat.
