FIGHT ON FRONTIER

Troops Kill Sixty Indian

Tribesmen

NOTORIOUS OUTLAW SHOT By Telegraph—Press Assn.—Copyright. Simla, August 27. More than 60 tribesmen were killed and 46 were wounded in an action on August 24 between disaffected .clansmen and British Indian forces operating in a mountainous region on the North-West frontier intersected by the Gandab Valley. The Indian Army casualties were five killed and 21 wounded. Various factors resulted in the tribesmen venting their spleen on workers repairing a road built through the Gandab Valley in 1933 for the protection of the Lower Mohmand tribes from incursions by tribesmen from the Upper Mohmand country. The raiders were dispersed, but reassembled 2000 strong, including a contingent from the p,a-r .Mohn.and country, operating under a fakir, For Falinger. Faced with this serious situation, troops from Peshawar and Nowshera went into action in collaboration with the Royal Air Force. The Air Force also attacked bases in adjoining hostile zones. A notorious outlaw named Chimnal was t hot at night time at Sandasar by a Mohmand, who qualifies for a reward of' £250. Chimnai was the cause of many depredations in the Peshawar district and was partly responsible for the operations on the Gandab road.
