Captain E. G. Morris, R.N., Director of Naval Reserves, has returned to Wellington from the South Island.

Lien t.-Colonel R. W. Fenton, commanding 2nd Field Brigade, N.Z.A., has returned from Palmerston North after visiting the 7th and .Sth Batteries.

Mr. R. 11. Nesbitt. Australian Trade Commissioner, and Mr. ,T. Payne, assistant Australian Trade Commissioner, have returned to Wellington from a. tour of the Manawatu and Taranaki districts. Professor A. M. Drennan, professor of pathology at Edinburgh University, and a former professor of pathology at Otago University, arrived at Wei lington yesterday morning from Dunedin. He was accompanied by Professors H. Ramsay, J. R. Elder and C. E. Kerens, of the University of Otago.

Mr. L. J. Schmitt, secretary of the Industries and Commerce Department and general manager of Tourist and Publicity, who has been visiting the south in connection with the Canterbury Winter Show and Exhibition of Industries, took advantage of the o importunity to confer on tourist, matters with many of those most interested, visiting Tjmaru and the Hermitage. Mr. Schmitt returned to Wellington yesterday.
