Wellington Markets Quiet

buyers marking time Little change in P rice s was seen yesterday on the Wellington Stock hxebauge The markets were generally steady at the recently reduced level, but business was very quiet. Investors were obviously marking time and watching the trend ot international events. No selling pressure was shown, and holders generally made but small concessions. Government mans showed little movement. The -1 per cent, stock, 1940, was reported done.at twi 2/6. A languid interest was shown in banks, which had an easy tendency. Australasias were better at £ll/4/6, sellers asking £ll 12/-. Commercial of Sydney were marked down to £l7/10/-, with offers at £lB 3/-. National of New Zealand were a little easier at 71/9, but sellers stii held for 73/3. New Zealand, D mortgage, were firm at 33/-, sellers 34/-. liesen e Banks were steady at late rates union of Australia weakened to £9, sellers asking 10/- higher. A slightly improved demand for pastorals and financials tound little change in prices. Dalgctys were steady at £B/5/-, Goldsbrough Morts were a shade easier at 32/6, and New Zealand Loan and Mereantiles p’ere wanted at £34. Wellington Gas were unchanged on business at 40/6. but Aucklands were weak at 25/6. Napier Gas were firm at £lO/1/-, the £5 paid being bid lor at £5/0/6. Wellington Woollens were 1/np at £5/17/-. Timber issues remained firm Levland O’Briens having business at 23/9. • . . Minor movements were made by miscellaneous industrial and trading issues. Broken Hill Proprietary were done late ou Monday at 65/9, buyers staying in yesterday at 3d. less. G. J. Coles were easier on a sale at 67/9, and Consolidated Bricks were 2d. lower at 11/4. Colonial Sugars were wanted at £42/15/-, sellers 20/- higher. Dunlop-Perdriaus weakened to 14/-, sellers 14/8. In the mining section Mount Morgans sold at 39/6. and buyers raised their bids to 94/- for Lolomas.
