Unemployed Man’s Arrears Allowed to Accumulate

In the Magistrate’s Court to-day Richard Hewitson applied for a remission of arrears and a variation of terms of the order made in favour of ills wife, and stated that lio was unable to pay. as lie received only casual work and was at present out of employment. Hewitson admitted that his mother benefited from au estate which had been sworn for probate at £21,000. The magistrate, Mr. E. L. Walton, S.M., said Hewitson's wife could claim from his mother as a near relative. His mother.was getting interest from £2'1.000, and! lie would be able to pay eventually. “I shall not remit the arrears. I shall allow them to accumulate until he is able to pay.” added the magistrate.
