Mr. McCallum’s Suggestion For Victoria College
“Until wo obtain it college equipment will remain rather lopsided as well as inefficient in that direction,” said the Hon. R. McCallum. M.L.C.. in n letter expressing the hope that provision would be made for a girls’ hostel at tin- college, received at last night’s meeting of the Victoria University’ College Council. Mr. McCallum, until recently a member of the council, expressed thanks for the council’s letter of appreciation of his services. “I did desire to remain a member until Weir House was functioning, and that feature of our institution is already such a success that I have no fear of its future,” Mr. McCallum said. “I would like to bo of assistance in securing a hostel for girl students as well, f believe that if our school of learning is kept on its present lines and continues in popularity we should reasonably expect some wealthy resident of the middle district to do as Mr. Weir did.”
