“HOW DO YOU DO?”

Amateur Revue Produced

“How Do You Do?” a revue which is being produced to assist the Y.M.C.A. gymnasium fund, opened a _ season of three nights at the Blue Triangle Hnfi, Wellington, lust evening. If the small faults common to most productions on the first night are eliminated, this revae should meet with approval this evening and to-morrow evening, for it was obvious that it had much to commend it. The acts were well varied, the songs bright, the ballets brisk and excellently costumed and the lines good.

The players included many who have been most successful in productions M this kind. Doris Clarke, soprano, was a tower of strength in all the musical numbers, and she was ably assisted by Sam Hall, Valerie Hall, and Lorna McDonald. In the humorous interludes Raymond Hedges, who produced the whole revue, and Gladys Thomas were a very good pair. Othei'i players who took their parts in a number of scenes convincingly were SV. Binet Brown, John Pike, Leslie Meek, Peggy Pike, Alice Scott, and Hilary Rogers. Molly Cook aud Hazel Martin were graceful dancers, and Peggy Pike showed her versatility by doing an entertaining impersonation of film, stars. The chorus and the ballets were a feature of the programme. They infused life into the continuity when it seemed things might lag. Hazel Martin was ballet mistress. At the piano was Mrs. C. M. Rogers. Last night the succession of items was not quick enough. If th'S fault is eliminated half the battle will be won. As it was the revue was good for an amateur company.
