Following is the weather report and forecast issued by the Meteorological Oflice, Wellington, for 24 hours ending 4 p.m. to-day : A rather deep cyclonic depression, with its centre west of the North Island, nt present dominates the meteorological situation. Winds moderate to strong generally and of gale force at places north of Farewell Spit and Kaikoura ; northerly at first north of Kawbta aud Gisborne; otherwise south-easterly to southerly prevailing. Seas rough to high north of Farewell Spit and Kaikoura; moderate on the west coast of the South Island; elsewhere in New Zealand waters rather rough. Strong southerly winds with rough seas in the eastern Tasman Sea, but wind and sea gradually decreasing. Weather still mainly fair in Westland; otherwise cold, cloudy and unsettled, with fairlv general rain, some heavy falls being likely in th c North Island, with flooding in places; snow on the ranges. Conditions moderating, however, tomorrow. YESTERDAY’S WEATHER. Wellington.-Cold, squally, and wet. with a strong southerly wind. Rain fell rdmost continuously. Minimum temperature during Juesdny night. 41.1 deg., maxinnun yesterday, 45.8 deg.; at 4 p.m., 42.7 deg.
