RED CROSS BALL
Invitations have been issued by the executive of the Wellington Centre of the New Zealand Red Cross Society for an Oriental ball to be held next month. Their Excellencies the Governor-General and Viscountess Galway have consented to be present. The hostesses will be Mrs. T. C. A. Hislop, Lady Luke, Mrs. Knox Gilmer, Mrs. C. H. Chapman, Mrs. E. Hendry and Mrs. T. H. Lowry. A feature of the ball will be the decorations,‘which will be in charge of Mrs. W. J. Wray, and which will be very effective. Hundreds of oriental lanterns and masses of greenery will transform the Town Hall into a slice of the Orient, and a special feature will be a gaily-decorated lounge. Fancy dress is not essential, but it is hoped that gs many as possible will attend in oriental costume. The committee will be pleased if all who are invited will reply as soon as possible as the number of invitations has to be limited.
