ART EXHIBITION
Visitors lo the art exhibition of the late Aliss Al. O. Stoddart’s work, now being held at tlie Art Gallery, Whitmore Street, have been amazed by the qualify and range of the work. It is more representative than any work of Aliss Stoddart’s previously exhibited in AYellington, and competent critics say that at the local exhibitions of recent years her best work Ims not been seen, judging by the standard of the present exhibition. In Christchun-li, where more than 60 sketches were sold, Mr. Sydney Thonijison, a well-known artist, drew special attention to the quality of the alpine sketches, notable for their strength, and lhe way in which height and masses were suggested, and also the brilliance and subtle variety of effect she could achieve in her flower paint ings.
