New Policy For King’s Outdoor, western and "action” pictures are to be specialised in by the new management of the King’s Theatre, according to Air. M. Sayegh, business representative for Amalgamated Theatres Ltd., who is visiting Wellington. As announced yesterday. Amalgamated Theatres are taking over the lease of the King's Theatre as from to-morrow. The policy of devoting certain theatres to the showing of double-feature outdoor and action programmes has been adopted so successfully in Auckland, Air. Sayegh said, that it is the intention of his company to follow it in respect to t-he King’s Theatre. Furthermore, first-run pictures will be screened. The main sources of supply of the pictures to be screened at the King’s will be from five leading film exchanges, Fox, Gaumont British, R.K.O. Radio, Columbia, and British Dominion Films, and leading stars will be presented, including George O’Brien, Jaek Holt, Edmund Lowe Victor MeLaglan. Claire Trevor, Evelyn Bostock, Edgar Kennedy, Alden Chase, Evelyn Brent, Gordon Harker, James Dunn, and many others. The theatre will commence its new career tomorrow with a double-star bill, "The Cowboy Millionaire,” featuring George O’Brien, and “The Awakening of Jim Burke,” featuring Jack Holt. Mr. Sayegh said that the King’s Theatre passing under the direction of Amalgamated Theatres Ltd,, the company will be controlling 66 theatres tjiroughout the Dominion. As soon as possible the King's Theatre will undergo an extensive overhaul and arrangements have been already made for the improvement of the sound system.

The Kisjr’s Theatre was built originally for’ West's Ltd.., Air. A. Linley and Mr. T. M. Donovan. Air. Linley afterward disposed of his interest to the presen; owners, West’s Ltd. and Air. Donovan.
