The case of a woman who had been deserted by her husband and was living with four of her children in one room, which came to the notice of the Wellington Hospital Board recently, has had a wide appeal. The Editor of “The Dominion” lias received from Mr. E. E. Hooper, editor of the “Waikato Times,” Hamilton. £l/2/-, the result of small subscriptions handed in by sympathetic readers. This money has been forwarded to the Wellington Hospital Board. Shortly after publicity was given to the position the board received £lO from an anonymous donor in Wellington, and there have been other offers to assist with firewood.
