JAIL FOR STOWAWAY
Discovery on Wanganella ' By Telegraph.—Press Association. Auckland. June 20. Discovered hiding on the Wanganella when the vessel was two days out from Wellington on the last trip to Sydney, an Australinn. Sydney Joseph Samways, aged 33, appeared in the Magistrate’s Court on a charge of stowing away on the vessel. Accused pleaded guilty. Sub-Inspector Fox said the Wanganella left Wellington for Sydney on June 6. Two days later an officer discovered accused hiding behind some straw. He nreviously had been sentenced to a month’s imprisonment for a similar offence.
A sentence of one month’s imprison ment was imposed.
