WEDDING

Oldfield—Welch The wedding was celebrated at StMatthew’s Church, Masterton, recently of Alma Betty, elder daughter of Mr. and Mrs. P. R. Welch, “Elmwood,” Upper Plain, Masterton, and Mr. Kenneth Walter, eldest eon of Mr. and Mrs. Walter Oldfield, Wanganui Road, Marton. The ceremony was performed by the Rev. E, J. Rich. Air. White was at the organ. The bride, who was escorted by her father, wore a white ring velvet gown, cut on graceful lines, with cowl neckline, and long sleeves finishing in a point over the hands, the skirt falling in a graceful train. Her brussels net veil was held by a band of orange "blossom and worn over the face. She carried a shower bouquet of white chrysanthemums, pale pink rosebuds and carnations. The bride was attended by two bridesmaids, Misses K. Fairchild and Ivy Oldfield (sister of the bridegroom), both of whom wore blue velvet frocks and headbands to match, and by little Nancy Welch (her sister), wearing pink velvet. All carried pretty posies to tone. Alessrs. Donald and Roy Oldfield, brothers of the bridegroom, acted as best man and groomsman lyAir. and Airs. Percy Welch received their guests at their home, Airs. Welch wearing a blue and fawn ensemble. Mrs. Oldfield, the bridegroom’s mother, wore floral silk crepe with blue coat and hat to tone. Mr. and Mrs. K. Oldfield later left for the south, the bride wearing a blue frock trimmed with grey georgette, and a blue felt hat and coat. Their future home will be at Eastbourne, Wellington.
