WELFARE WORK

W.C.T.U. Meeting Mrs. H. J. Rowe presided over the last meeting of the Wellington W.C.T.U. The president, i Mrs. Murray, was absent from Wellington. After the devotional period, minutes and correspondence were read. A motion of sympathy was passed with- the relatives of the late Mrs. Grace. Arrangements were made to entertain the district executive members one day this month. Those present were reminded of Mrs. Moffatt Clow’s meeting, to be held in St. John’s Church, to-day. Miss McLay then gave her address, which was most interesting and instructive. She quoted from an address given by Lord Astor, M.P., such sayings as: “Truth always wins out,” and “A nation’s idealism depends on its conception of God.” Miss McLay urged the need of prayer, “the mightiest force in the universe.” The speaker was thanked, and tea provided and served by Mrs. Porte and Miss Lee.
