LONDON BUTTER MARKET Smaller Supplies By Telegraph.—Press Assn.—Copyright. London, June 8. The butter market has maintained its recent improvement. Prices again advanced this week. New Zealand choicest is now quoted at 83/- to 84/- per cwt., and Australian 82/-. This steadiness is largely due to the better statistical position, for although cold stored stocks are still large, present indications suggest that supplies from Australia and New Zealand during the summer will be considerably less than those of last year. Quantities afloat on June 1 from Australia and New Zealand and the Argentine were 775,399 boxes as compared with 9C0.404 a year ago. European production has been somewhat checked by cold weather and Danish exports are lower than for the corresponding period of 1934. Tallow and Hemp Markets The Department of Agriculture hao received the following cablegram, dated June 8, from the High Commissioner for New Zealand, London: — Tallow: Market quiet bur steady at about last quotations. Hemp: Manila —Market quiet and easier. Closing sellers for June-August shipment £l3/5/-. Sisal —Market steady with demand quieter. July-September shipment sold at £l6/2/6 and AugustOctober shipment at. £l6/5/-. New Zealand: Nothing to report.
