City Land Sale
(From “The Dominion,” April 13. 1910.) The freehold cd’ that valuable block of land in Manners Street, Wellington, at present occupied by Mr. Shakess tobacconist shop and the ‘‘Hat Box.” has been bought, by Messrs. Chas. Begg and Company. Limited, music warehousemen, who intend toward the end of the yea to erect a commodious warehouse, suited to their business. The section is a portion of the old Heath estate (one of the original town acres allotted by the New Zealand Company, the founders of Wellington). It is understood that: Messrs. Beg" and Company paid approximately £2OO per foot for' the Manners Street block. • * * At Chalons, France. M. Kinel, a Belgian aeronaut, in a Farnian biplane, covered 102 miles in 140 minutes —a record, lie carried one passenger.
