FANCY DRESS ADVENTURE

Barbara was going to-a party. Lt was to be in the garden of one of her little friends, and they were ail going to dress up as animals, and you would have thought that Barbara would have been ever so excited, wouldn't von? But she wasn’t. Oh, dear me. no! She was very annoyed because mummy said she could go dressed tip like a bunny, and Barbara wanted to be

dressed like a crocodile! “But bunnies are much nicer than crocodiles.” Mummy told her. “No, they’re not!” shouted Barbara.

Anyway, there she was at the rime of the party looking quite sweet as a wee bunny, but she was so grumpy end cross that no one wanted to have anything to do with her. “Just look nt that naughty little bunny,” said one of the grown-ups: “she’s pulling the lion’s tail.” Barbara was pulling it so hard that all of a sudden she fell back and back—such a long way! And somehow she couldn’t get up. but went on rolling and rolling and rolling down a steep bank that she had never noticed before. “Oh! oh!” was all she could say. anti there didn’t seem to be any one to pick her up. Then she stopped rolling and found herself sitting on a grassy slope, but she couldn’t see anybody else and she was getting ever so frightened when she heard a scampering of feet and in a minute a bunnjr—a real one .this time — was sitting beside her. “Take me home.” said Barbara. .But Bunny only shook his .head and looked at her. “Please do,” asked Barbara again. “Mummy won’t know where I am.” “You should have behaved yourself.” “I didn’t mean to be bad,” sobbed Barbara. “You’ve disgraced the bunnleA” said Bunny sternly. “But if you let me go back now I’ll show them how good a bunny can be. Please do let me,” begged Barbara. Of course the bunny was really ever so kind-hearted, and he didn't like ' seeing this little girl cry, so he showed her the way back to the party. So remember, when next you are in fancy dress, that you must behave nicely and not disgrace the person or animal you represent.
