Good Fields For To-day HORSES IN FORM (By “Overcheck.”) The Wanganui 'Trotting Club’s meeting will he brought to a conclusion today. The fields generally are stronger than on the first day, and this should result in keener racing. The programme is as follows: — BOROUGH HANDICAP, of £O5: 3.49 class; unhoppled trotters. The latter established a substantial lead in the early stages of the Kirkwood Handicap but stopped badly over the last portion of the journey. The race and the extra work she has had during the week should find her in better shape to-day. Wraekless finished well on Saturday, but had too much ground to make up. He should •soon secure winning brackets. Audo Patch lost a lot of ground in the early part of last week’s race and then won, so his penalty of 24 yards should not seriously prejudice his chances to-day. Transworthy and Allworthy were first and second respectively in the Foster’s Handicap last Saturday, while Insolvent separated Harvest In and Bolinda King in the Eastbrook Handicap last week, and may be expected to do better soon. Possibly Insolvent will carry the bulk of the investments. LIVERPOOL HANDICAP, of £125; 4.45 class. Two miles. Bonnie Direct scr Nelson’s Chum . 12 Storm Queen . scr Smooger (t.) .. 24 Blondie ser Guymond 36 Gay Sister .... 12 Sylvia Sydney 60 Bonnie Direct, Storm Queen, and Smooger are newcomers in the Liverpool Handicap, and of these Storm Queen may prove to be the best. Guymond incurred a penalty of 24 yards for his win last Saturday, and Sylvia Sydney has gone back 12 yards for her success in the sprint race. Still it would appear that these two will again race prominently, and they may follow Storm Queen in order of favouritism. STEWARDS’ HANDICAP, of £7O; 3.5 class. One mile nnd a quarter. Transworthy, and the bracket, Insolvent-Red Gold, arc sure to command respect in the Louis Cohen Handicap. Red Gold was ope of the unlucky ones last week, the starter’s assistant, who was in charge of the 24 yards barrier, failing to let those on that mark away with the rest of the field. Then after catching the field he tangled through jumping a saddle-cloth which was blown in front of him. Possibly the bracket will carry the bulk of the investments. FAREWELL HANDICAP, of £80: 2.vj class. One mile and a quarter. Blondie scr Lord Wrack . 24 .Storm Queen . scr Guymond ... 36 Gay Sister .... 12 Edna Worthy 48 Nelson's Chum 12 Sylvia Sydney . 48 Gav Sister is nicely placed in the Farewell Handicap, and she now meets Sylvia Sydney on 12 yards better terms than when she ran second on Saturday last. Storm Queen. and Blondie did not contest the sprint event last week, and their presence strengthens to-day’s field. Of these Storm Queen may receive most support. Possibly Gay Sister. Storm Queen, and Sylvia Sydney will be preferred.
