Westminster is the convivial centre of London. It has more public-houses (365) than any other borough in the county—one for every 352 of . its population—and more than one-third of all the licensed hotels and restaurants in the metropolis are within its borders. At the other end of the scale, Lewisham has only one public-house for every 2244 of its inhabitants, and there are six boroughs without a single licensed hotel.
