Wright has received, the following cabled report on the Colombo tea auction of April 9: —At yesterday’s auction of 2} million lb., the price of common teas advanced about Id., while all other grades were dearer. A generally firm to dearer market is anticipated during the next few weeks. The quantity to be auctioned at next sale is 2,300,0001 b. MARKET GARDENERS, LTD.

Increase in Dividend I Mucli improved results for the last year’s trading are shown in the balancesheet of Market Gardeners, Ltd., fruit and produce auctioneers, of Wellington, The balance-sheet discloses a net profit of £1169/6/-, after due allowance has been made for all contingencies, and after payment of a declared dividend to shareholders of 7 per cent., the amount shown as carried forward, inclusive of the 1933 surplus, now stands at £12(12/11/10. With a glimpse of return to normal times this company has shown its appreciation to the staff also by restoring 5 per cent, of the wage cut made a year or so ago. This means that staff members working under award are now in receipt of a 5 per cent, excess tn their award rates, and others on tluj staff have advanced likewise. This company is purely co-operative, and all those associated with the concern have reason to be satisfied with the manner in which their affairs are being conducted. The dividend last year was 6 per cent. Customs Exchange Rates Rates of exchange ruling at the announced dates of departure of vessels named are shown in the following table. They are subject to confirmation by the Customs Department when the exact time of departure is learned on arrival of the vessels in New Zealand.
