Inspection of Hurricane

Damage In view of the absence of reports from outlying islands in the Cook Group, following the recent hurricane, the Government is contemplating dispatching the steamer Matai next week on a visit of investigation. Since the hurricane no communica tion has been established with certain of the islands, among them Palmerston Island The dispatch of the Matai wi) enable a round of calls to be made and the hurricane damage fully assessed If she makes the trip the Matai will carry provisions and a doctor, there being at present only one doctor available in the Group.
