“Switchbacks, Coney Island, Roundabouts,” muttered Inkling quietly to himself with a yearning look in his eye. “Well,” demanded the Blots Impatiently. “What about it?” "What . Let’s make one!” shouted Inkling. “A Coney Island, you know; it’s a place near New York where they have the most wonderful slides and switchbacks and things.”
"You,” he pointed to Horace Blot, “go and get me all the umbrellas you can find. Not sunshades—umbrellas. And Oscar, bring your concertina and penwiper. Oh, see if Jiggle is anywhere about. We shall need him, too. Bring everything on to the lawn by. the windmill line.”
, When everything was ready Inkling i fixed an open umbrella to each “arm,” ■■ tied Jiggle to the end of a long string i and fixed that on, too, and then he • put a bone just out of reach of Jiggle's i, nose. “Hop in,” he cried to the n Blots, as he donned his moustache and tuned up the concertina.
Off went Jiggle after the bone widen he could not quite catch. Round and round spun the windmill umbrellabout; then, snap went all the umbrella catches, under the strain, and wailings from the imprisoned Blots rent the air. “Nice sort of roundabout,” they grumbled when they were set free. “Never mind,” Inkling consoled himself, “it was a wonderful idea.”
