“Shower” Tea
Miss Lena Holden, wearing a frock of nut brown, silk with string-coloured collar and cuffs, was hostess at a delightful “shower" tea yesterday for Miss Marjorie Gunn, who is shortly to be married. Miss Holden and the guest of honour, who wore a frock of Sandringham blue crepe, received the guests in the lounge, which was decorated with blue hydrangeas. Everyone then went to the drawing-room, where bowls of Japanese lilies shed their fragrance. Miss Joyce Porter gave great pleasure with her piano solos, as also did Miss Muriel Allen, with her songs and Miss Joan Powell with a violin solo.
After tea In the dining-room, Miss Gunn opened her gifts, which proved to be most varied and useful for her iiew home.
Among those presetn were the Misses Kathleen Gunn, Nancy and Valerie Beere, Nancy Luke, Myra Post, Noela Cable, Paddy Hope Gibbons, Shirley Hopkins, Betty Ellis, Marjorie and Elsie Gibbons, Irma Porter, Mavis Giddings, Phyllis Rj'an.
