Wellington Market Dull PRICES IRREGULAR With a few exceptions. quotations on the Wellington Stock Exchange yesterday were inclined to be easier, the market showing an irregular tone. Sellers predominated in the lists, but trading was inactive. , There was an improved demand tor Government loans, which were generally firm. The 4 per cent, stock, 19-10, sold at £lO5 ex half-year's interest, buyers staying in at £lO4/10/-. The 4 per cents., 1955, were a shade better at £lO9/7/6. Banks and pastorals were a dull market, the former showing an easier tendency. Commercial of Australia were unchanged at 16/4. Commercial of Sydney were marked down to £l5/10/-, sellers £lO/10/-, and E.S. and ,'A’s to £4/10/;■ sellers staying at £5/1/-. Goldsbrougb Morts were 2d. better at 7/9. Wellington Gas ordinaries improved to 42/6. New Zealand Insurance were weak at 66/4, sellers 67/3. New Zealand Refrigerating sold at 19/7, buyers staying in at 19/-. Gear Meats showed little change at 21/10, sellers 22/6. Huddnrt Parkers eased 3d. to 37/3, sellers 38/6. Wellington Woollen preference advanced 2/- to £5/15/- without response. Breweries attracted more attention, buyers coining in for Tooths at 48/- and Tooheys at 28/-. New were unchanged at 50/-, sellers easing 3d. to 50/9. In miscellaneous, industrial and trading issues, Broken Hill Proprietary were weaker at 51/9. sellers 5/6. Dominion Fertiliser were 3d. up tit 21/6. Electrolytic,Zinc ordinaries were 6(1. better at 21/6. Buyers offered 20/9 for Prestige (N.Z.), sellers holding for 23/6. Dunlop Perdriaus Bold at 18/0} and 18/9. and Wilsons Cement at 34/-. There was a better inquiry for -mining shares.
