Cloudy to overcast; temperatures cooler.
Following is the weather report and forecast issued by the Meteorological Office, Wellington, for 24 hours ending 4 p.m. to-day A moderate depression is centred north-west of the North Island. Barometers are rising slightly over the South Island. . Forecast: Winds moderate from north-east to north m the northern portion of the North Island; elsewhere south to south-east; becoming strong in parts ot the Cook Strait area; elsewhere light to fresh. Seas rough in the Cook Strait area and rather rough on parts of the east coast, elsewhere smooth to moderate in New Zealand waters. . Moderate to fresh south-easterly winds, and moderate to rather rough seas, in the eastern Tasman Sea. . , , , , u , , . „ IVGather fine in western districts of the South Island ; elsewhere cloudy to overcast. Fairly general rain over the northern half of the North Island, and scattered but mainly light to moderate falls over the remainder of the North Island and eastern districts of the South. Temperatures cooler. Rainfall at “The Dominion” Building for 24 hours ended, at midnight last night: .05 inch. Rainfall during February: .480 inches. Shade temperature at “The Dominion” Building during 24 hours ended at midnight last night: Maximum, 68 degrees; minimum, 58 degrees.
