EXPORTS INCREASE

Britain’s Overseas Trade (British Official Wireless.) (Received February 14, 5.5 p.m.) Rugby, February 13. Board of Trade figures for overseas trade in January show a substantial expansion in exports as compared with the corresponding months of last.year, and a moderate increase over December figures. Re-exports also show considerable improvement. Imports in January totalled £61,931,000 against £G2,263,000 in December and £64,571,000 in January last year. Exports last month were valued at £35,481,000 against £34,300,000 in December and £31,609,000 in January, 1934. Re-exports were £5,034,000 against £3,606,000 and £4,073,000 respectively. FOREIGN LOANS IN LONDON Relaxation of Embargo London, February 13. In the House of Lords Lord Templemore, replying to Lord Straboigi’s inquiry regarding steps to encourage exports, said that the embargo on foreign loans in London had been relaxed from time to time and would be so felaxed in future where a maximum advantage could be obtained for British employment without throwing an undue strain on the exchanges.
