YESTERDAY’S WEATHER
Fine and Warm at Wellington
Tlie weather continued fine and warm at Wellington yesterday morning. At about midday it became cloudy and the wind, although still light, changed from the north to the south. Thunder storms developed during the day in tlie near-by mountain ranges. The temperature on Wednesday night was 61.3 degrees, the maximum ■ temperature yesterday 78.4 degrees, and at 4 p.m. 68.0 degrees. Although the morning was beautifully fine, witli brilliant sunshine, the sky cloudeil during the afternoon at Mastertoil, and rain threatened. There was .a slight easterly breeze. The weather at Wanganui was extremely hot. Bright sunshine ruled for most of the day, but there was a good deal of cloud toward evening. Warm weather continued in Central Hawke’s Bay. The maximum temperature at 2 p.m. was 85deg., and by 7.30 p.m.’ it had dropped to 75deg. The barometer fell 2 points. Cloudy weather with a south-easterly breeze prevailed at Auckland in the morning. Rain commenced falling during the afternoon and continued steadily. 1 The barometer onrnjal and showed a slight falling tendency. ■Weather at Christchurch was sunny with a moderate south-west breeze. The maximum temperature was 72.3 degrees. The barometer rose slowly to 30.00 in. , • Overcast and unsettled weather and light rain were experienced in Dunedin, with a light south-west wind. Between midnight on Wednesday and noon yesterday the rainfalltotalled 9in. It was the first rainfall since January 27. The maximum temperature was 58 degrees.- The barometer was steady at 30.06 in. all day.
