“TEN-MINUTE ALIBI”

Williamson Dramatic Company To-mori'ow night at the Wellington Grand Opera House, beginning at 8 o’clock, the J. C. Williamson, Ltd., new London dramatic company will present for the first time hero Anthony Armstrong's thrilling dramatic sensation, “Ten-Minute Alibi.” which has- proved a record-breaker throughout the world. There has been a large demand for seats for Saturday evening and for subsequent nights, and the Wellington season of “Ten-Minute Alibi” promises to prove just as successful ns the triumphant one which took plait in Auckland recently, “Ten-Minute Alibi” is something different in thrillers. Anthony Armstrong’s play reverses the stock formula by inviting the audience to become, in effect, the murderer. Thus, instead of lending our wits to Detective-Inspector Pember and Detective-Sergeant Brace, who are' called in to investigate the murder of Phillip Servilla, we become the murderer, sharing his mental anguish while the keenminded Scotland Yard men te=t his alibi. There are many genuine laughs in “TenMinute Alibi.” and there is romance also in the story. The J. C. ’Williamson, Ltd., management was evidently very fortunate in procuring Mr. George Thirl.well for the leading role, ns he has been acclaimed as one of the most brilliant young actors who has visited New Zealand. M’ss Jocelyn Howarth, since she appeared in tire screen production of “The Squatter's has made rapid progress in her profession, and she has scored nil outstanding success in her role. The scenery, stage effects and the unique lighting effects are outstanding features of the production. Only a limited number of performances can be staged of “Ten-Minute Alibi.” including a matinee on Wednesday afternoon.
