Y.W.C.A. MOVEMENT
National Convention The fifth national convention of the Y.W.C.A. of New Zealand will b e held in Wellington from February 19 to 26. Usually conventions are held every two years, but it is two and a half years since the previous convention, the date having been put forward in order that the national secretary, Miss Jean Stevenson, might bring a report from the World’s Council at Geneva., At this convention the theme chosen is “A Christian Movement and Modern Relationships.” / At the convention all the many services and activities of the association will come under review—hostels, club and group work.of all kinds, the problem of the adolescent, and more than all, the place of the association in educating Christian women citizens who will worthily play their part in building a better society. As n' fellowship which reaches over barriers of class and race and religloq.the association has an important part to plav in building!worldfriendship. Business sessions will be held eacli day in the Blue Triangle Hall of the Y.WiC.A. A reception to the delegates, to which are invited representatives of women’s societies i» Wellington, is to be held on the evening of Tuesday, February 19, when Dr. Sylvia Chapman will be in the chair, and Miss Stevenson will speak on “Trends in the Y.W.C.A. Abroad.” On Friday, February 22, there will be a public meeting in the evening, at which Miss Moncrieff will speak on “China To-day.” Special guests will be Miss A. M. Moncrieff. M.A. (student secretary, Y.W.C.A,. of China). Miss Jean Begg (national secretary, Y.W.C.A. of India), and Miss Elsie M. Griffin, M.A. (national secretary, Y.W.C.A. of Australia).
