ATTRACTIVE FASHION

. The Vogue For Glass Wherever one goes in London, in every fashionable shop these glassmade articles attract one’s notice, and are always pleasing, especially to the feminine eye. Every sort of glass is used, 1 both mirrored and plain, and, writes a correspondent in the “Sydney Morning Herald,” the latter is often coloured in delicate shades of azure blue or a soft and very pale rose pink. The very latest tables are made of glass. These are seen as large as the ordinary dining table, and a very charming version is made of pale green glass which reminds one in its appearance of sea foam. Others smaller and of a sort similar to an occasional table are made of pink or blue glass in the delicate shade described. These small tables, too, are attractive, and they are made entirely of glass, square legs and top alike. But the new glass table would not be complete without the latest cigarettebox, which is also made of glass. The new box is cut to represent squares rather like some makes of chocolate bars, and is also in the delicate shade of blue or pink. Lined with the usual cedarwood, these boxes are very alluring, and they have the added advantage that they do not need cleaning. The very latest table lamps are of glass. These are usually seen in plain white glass, which is cut in cubes and spheres one upon another, forming the column. Several lamp-stands made in this modern way were among the wedding presents of the Duke and Duchess of Kent. A few months ago the powder-case of looking-glass made its appearance in London, and was an immediate success. It was something quite new and definitely different from the flapjack, both round and square, which had long been in fashion. The new case of glass is square in shape and made of stronglooking glass, on every side, and it cannot easily be broken. The outside of the case can be used as a looking-glass just as well as the glass, which is fitted inside the lid, and’ the case is equally suitable for day or evening wear. A more expensive glass powder-case, also square in shape and slightly larger, Is the one made of tiny squares of glass fitted together like a mosaic, and this case glitters even more brightly than the one made of plain-looking glass. Glass is also used for forming many of the articles used by the modern and fashionable woman. Th.e very latest toilet set, comprising hand mirror and two brushes, is made of glass, the backs either plain or cut,- and in the light blue or pink colour which is so fascinating. Such a toilet set is very new, indeed, and a welcome change from silver, tortoiseshell, or enamel. The newest clocks in London are made of glass entirely, and these are usually square or oblong in shape and without a frame. These glass clocks are sometimes amusing, for they scorn anything so obvious as the usual numerals for the hours and substitute instead plain round dots, which seem to answer the purpose just as well. A large glass screen, at the top of which is a clock of this description, is a feature of the lounge at the Berkeley Buttery, which is now one of the most fashionable rendezvous in the West End. ' ’
