Miss V. Hynes, Otahuna, is at present at Wellington. Mrs. R. B. Ashe has taken, up her residence at 11 Ariki Road, Hataitai.

Mrs. A. Crawford, Wanganui, is visiting Wellington. Mrs. D. A, Cameron, who has been visiting Christchurch, has returned to Gladstone.

Sir Alexander Godley and Lady Godley are the guests of Mr. Hamish Wilson, Bulls. Mrs. R. Carthy left Wanganui on Wednesday to take up residence a: Auckland.

Mrs. A. E. Preston, Island Bay, Wellington, is visiting her mother, Mrs, V. E. Donald, Lansdowne. Masterton. Dr. and Mrs. Frengley, Balclutha, are the guests of Dr. and Mrs. J. T. Harding, Petone. Mr. and Mrs. Arthur Baker, Pending, left on Wednesday for Nelson and the West Coast.

Mrs. Seaton, Wadestown, and Miss Mary Seaton have returned from a holiday spent at Eastbourne. Miss Olive Mcllraith, Christchurch, will arrive at Wellington this morning to join the Remuera on a holiday trip to England. Mr. and Mrs. T. H. Glendinning, Remuera, Auckland, will arrive at Wellington at the beginning of next week to join the Makura for a trip to America.

Mr. and Mrs. W. H. Cowper, Christchurch, will arrive at Wellington at the beginning of next month en route for Melbourne, where they will make their home.

Miss Norah Hoare, who has, completed her training at the Kariftme Hospital, Wanganui, is at present staying with Mrs. Gordon Stewart, Highland Park. Mrs. C. A. Morrison, Seremban, Malay States, who has been visiting her sister, Mrs. H.«F. Shadbolt, Hill Street, has left for Marton to stay with Mrs. P. J. Sladden.

Mrs. Arthur Batchelor, Karorl, who was at New Plymouth for her mother’s funeral, will now leav.e for Toko, where her father, Mr. David Maxwell, is very ill. Miss Jean Wright, Auckland, who has been the guest of Captain and Mrs. Hartman, Wadestown, has left to stay with friends in the Wairafapa and Hawke’s Bay. She expects to return to Auckland about the end of the month. Wellington guests recently registered at the White Star Hotel, Queenstown, included Mr. R. T. Robinson, Mr. A. W. Wellsted, Mr. J. Sawers, Mr. S. C. Doyle, Mr. H. Valentine, Mr. A. Tyndall, Miss M. E. Hervey, Mr, and Mrs. W. Gregory and- Master W. H. Gregory, Misses F. Paul and Sister Livingstone, who left Wanganui yesterday on the first sitages of a trip to England, were the guests of honour at a social afternoon given by the Lady Jellicoe Club on Wednesday afternoon. Both were presented with bridge sets from the bridge circle. Mr. and Mrs. F. L. Darbyshire, Wanganui, who will leave shortly to take up residence at Christchurch, were farewelled recently by members of Si. Paul's congregation. ‘ Mr. Darbyshire, who conducted the choir for nearly 16 years', was .presented with a handsome hymnal. During the evening a programme of songs was given by Mrs'. Doull, Miss Astbury and Messrs. S. McFarlane and Mentor. Supper, and good wishes from those present concluded an enjoyable evening.
