Answers to Inquiries Pruning a Rhododendron. No. It is not wise to prune a rhododendron. The flowers form on the tips o-t the green shoots nt the end of the. branches, and it is not therefore advisable to prune away anything but the dead wood. (‘ Novice, Wellington South.) Perennial Phlox Disappointing. When given the right conditions, perennial phlox is one of the most beautiful hardy flowers. This season, however, has been exceptionally severe on them, and accounts for taelr withered, condition. They demand large supplies Of food and water. Enrich your soil with rotted manure and decayed vegetation. (“First Year,” Lower Hutt.) Spring Bulbs.
