OBITUARY
Mrs. David Maxwell .Mrs. David Maxwell. Toko, who died at the New Plymouth Hospital on Saturday at the age of 81, was oue of the oldest residents of the Toko district. A week previously Mr. and Mrs. Maxwell celebrated the 63rd anniversary of their marriage. Mrs. Maxwell had been at Toko for 43 years. Mrs. Maxwell was a daughter of James Shepherd, who landed in New Plymouth in 1854. Mrs. Maxwell was born at the mission station at Mangntautiri, north of Cambridge, and went with her parents to Waiuku. She was married to Mr. Maxwell at Auckland in 1872. .She had four sons and five daughters, and for 50 years there were uo deaths in the family, but since Mr. and Mrs. Maxwell’s golden wedding three of the children have died. Mrs. Maxwell leaves her husband, who is over 86, two sons, David (Te Kuiti) and Alan (I’atea) ami four daughters, Mrs. Cameron (Brisbane), Mrs. 11. Airey (Auckland), Mrs. Batchelor (Wellington) and Mrs. A. Warner (Lower Hutt).
