METHODIST CHURCH
Taranaki Street Circuit The quarterly meeting of the Taranaki Street Methodist Circuit was presided over, by the Rev. T. R. Richards, and was largely attended. The financial statement revealed a credit balance o£ £ll, which was considered very satisfactory. Membership returns and youth work reports were received from different parts of the circuit, and were regarded as most encouraging. It was decided to make application to conference, which is to be held in Dunedin this month, for a married home missionary to take charge of Webb Street and Aro Street Churches. Messrs. R. S. Maunder and 11. C. Tonks were elected circuit stewards, and Messrs. 11. S. Maunder and W. A. G. Skinner representatives to the conference in Dunedin. Messrs. H. E, Pacey, 11. S. Maunder, H. C. Tonks and W. Walton were elected representatives to the district executive. Owing to pressure of work Mr. A. Richards tendered his resignation as missionary secretary, which was accepted with regret. The meeting placed on record its deep sense of loss in the passing of Mr. and Mrs. Thomas Ralph, who had over a long period been actively connected with Wesley Church. Regret was also expressed that on account of ill-health Mr. 13. O. Stokes found it necessary to retire from the position of circuit steward.
