PRIVATE AIR “YACHT”

Viscount Furness’s Order

Dominion Special Service —By Air Mail. London, January 5. Viscount Furness, millionaire peer and racehorse owner, is to have a private air “yacht.” It will be one of the most luxurious aeroplanes ever built for a private owner.

Tlie machine, which will be delivered in March, is a De HaviUaud Rapide—a type usually used as an eight-seater air liner. But as an air yacht everything will be sacrificed for comfort. Instead of the normal eight seats, four deeply cushioned armchairs will be installed in the cabin. The interior colour scheme will be in maroon. All the metal fittings will be nickel plated. Panelled walls will conceal small cupboards where everything necessary for a comfortable journey will be concealed. There will be a refreshment canteen. The walls of the private cabin will be sound-insulated, so that Lord Furness and his guests will be able to talk in ordinary tones. The cost, of the machine will be more than £5OOO.
