NEW 4YA STATION
Work to Begin Shortly Dominion Special Service; Dunedin, February 13. A start is to be made in the near future with buildings to house the new technical plant for 4YA on Otago Peninsula. The erection of a mast will also be commenced about the same time. The .South Island engineer of the New Zealand Broadcasting Board, Mr. W. H. Harrison, together with one or two local officials, visited the site today. Mr. Harrison told a reporter that Amalgamated Wireless (Australia), Ltd., engineers were still working at the Auckland station and that they would probably shortly shift to Christchur.il to install necessary equipment to increase the power of the transmitter there to ten kilowatts. After that it was probable that the new 4YA plan would be ready for installation. It was hoped to have the new local station in running order well before the end of 1935.
