Launch Search Reveals No Trace on Lake Taupo SEARCHLIGHT USED By Telegraph.—Press Association. Rotorua, February 12. A search carried out by an Internal Affairs Department launch has failed to reveal any trace of an aeroplane following the report that one was thought to have disappeared into Lake Taupo last night. The postmaster at Taupo reports that it has been ascertained that all registered aeroplanes are accounted for throughout the Dominion. / The launch, which was equipped with a searchlight, carried out an extensive search for five hours, and when the party returned at 2 a.m., they reported that no oil or wreckage of any description had been found on the water of the lake, while other inquiries also failed to substantiate the story. It was learned from Taupo this morning that six independent people, as well as a party of Maoris, saw the aeroplane over the lake last evening. A launch which searched during the night returned to Taupo without having seen any sign of an aeroplane. A further search is being made to-day.
