HORTICULTURE WEEK
Conferences in Dunedin Mr. G. S. Nicoll, secretary of the New Zealand Institute of Horticulture, returned to Wellington after attending the twelfth anupal conference of the Institute in Dunedin. The final week of January was “Horticultural Week” in the southern centre, as in the same period the Horticultural Trades Association of New Zealand held its annual conference, and also the Horticultural Seedsmen’s Association and the Association of Directors of Parks and Reserves. ' Representatives from Wellington at the Institute Conference were Messrs J. A. Campbell, acting-chairman of the executive council, J. G. MacKenzie, vice-president; Peter Plack, of Palmerston North, vice-president; Mr. J. S. Nicoll, Dominion secretary and Mr. T. Waugh. Satisfaction was expressed by delegates at the passing by Parliament last session of the Native Plants Protection Act, which measure could do nothing but good in the preservation' of the unsurpassed beauty and luxuriance of New Zealand’s native forests.
